Introduction

Research shows that a quality mentoring relationship benefits the Mentee, Mentor and the Organisation. This survey was created to ascertain the uptake and effectiveness of  mentoring systems within the University.

Objectives

This questionnaire aims to inform the development of future schemes. Its objectives are:

  1. To monitor the engagement of formal and informal mentoring relationships across the University.
  2. To monitor the impact of formal and informal mentoring relationships across the University.
  3. To provide feedback and data to inform the planning, development and implementation of our future mentoring schemes.

Clarification of definitions

Mentoring:

Mentoring is a form of one-to-one support where a more experienced colleague uses their knowledge, skills and connections to help someone with their current and future challenges. It has been shown to have a positive effect on individuals’ career success.
